The reason you need a smartphone camera lens filter is because of the 180-degree rule. According to the 180-degree rule, your shutter speed should be 2x your frame rate.

  • 24fps = 1/48 shutter speed
  • 60fps = 1/120 shutter speed
  • 240fps = 1/480 shutter speed

By adding a filter to your phone’s camera – particularly a neutral density one – you can reduce your shutter speed without blowing out the highlights. Your mobile videos will have a more accurate motion blur even in the harshest midday sun!

The Moment 67mm Phone Filter Mount allows you to mount filters to pretty much any device without requiring a Moment Case. If you have a triple-camera setup as I do on my iPhone 13 Pro Max, it will work over all three lenses without vignetting. The Phone Filter Mount also doesn’t block the rear-facing microphone.

The design of the Phone Filter Mount is top-class and makes using filters on iPhones or Androids so easy. I love the padded contact points too and feel confident that I’m not hurting the phone camera or screen.

Why purchase the Moment 67mm Phone Filter Mount?

If you don’t already have Moment lenses and/or mounting options, then adding a mount like this and some filters is a great introduction to mobile photography and filmmaking. Between the $50 case and $100+ lenses, this is a fairly expensive thing to do and not everyone has lots of money to enter the game.

Even if you do have the money and the lenses and case, the Phone Filter Mount is a nifty and efficient option to use on the fly. Sometimes you’re out in the middle of the day in harsh light and want to capture something but don’t have the luxury of time. Slap the filter mount and VND on in a matter of 2 minutes and you can shoot with all your camera’s lenses without exposure concerns.

To summarize, the Phone Filter Mount is great for efficiency or those on a budget.

Moment Lens Filter Mount

The Moment 67mm Lens Filter Mount allows you to mount filters to most Moment lenses but does require the purchase of a Moment Case (or some other mounting option). You will have to swap out the little rubber collars depending on which lens you want to use but this is fairly simple to do. While Moment’s website says the Lens Filter Mount works with all Moment lenses here, do note that they say you can’t use the Lens Filter Mount with the 14mm Fisheye here.

Why purchase the Moment 67mm Lens Filter Mount?

If you’re shooting a mobile film of some kind though and want to take advantage of lots of different focal lengths during all times of the day, then the Lens Filter Mount is the clear winner.

The only thing of note with the Lens Filter Mount is that my Zhiyun Smooth 4 Gimbal struggles with the heavier lenses (i.e. the Moment 18mm Wide and Moment 58mm Tele) even with this massive counterweight attached. To deal with this, I just use the setup on a tripod and limit camera movement as much as possible.

To summarize, the Lens Filter Mount is preferable for more advanced shooters and those that plan to grow as mobile photographers or filmmakers.
